They attempted to raise a Ringed seal completely by hand, and through trial and error, they successfully raised it to the point where it could be exhibited. As a first attempt at this, they left a valuable record.

Osaka Bay is home to small porpoises called finless porpoises. We believe that studying porpoises and raising awareness of them is one way to preserve the richness of our oceans for the future, and so we are working on studying porpoises.

Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture, is the home of many of the creatures at Whale shark, including the Kaiyukan. Here, the creatures on display are collected and raised, and research is conducted on the surrounding sea area.
