The Kaiyukan Official Shop has reopened after renovations

The Kaiyukan Official Shop, located on the third floor of the Entrance Building, will reopen on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Opened in July 2013, the Kaiyukan Official Shop is exclusively open to visitors. Offering a wide selection of exclusive merchandise, including items curated by aquarium keeper, the shop has become a popular souvenir and memento of visitors' visits. This renovation, based on the concept of the "Product Planning Office (tentative name)," focused on every detail, from the interior design to the furnishings. The shop features fixtures inspired by tools used by aquarium keeper for feeding, including buckets and damsels (large containers primarily used for temporarily storing and transporting fish), allowing customers to enjoy a unique atmosphere. In addition, new merchandise, including towel handkerchiefs, tote bags, drawing rulers, and drawstring pouches, will be available with the renovation. If you're visiting Kaiyukan, we encourage you to stop by the revamped official shop and discover merchandise that will help you take Kaiyukan the excitement of your visit. *In order to reduce the burden on the environment, our aquarium has stopped providing paper bags in our shops. Original goods commemorating the 35th anniversary of Kaiyukan now available at the official shop

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the opening of Kaiyukan on Sunday, July 20, 2025, original 35th anniversary merchandise (three types) will be available from July 20, and a 35th anniversary version of the medal leaf will be available from July 18. The original merchandise will include a 35mm-wide masking tape commemorating the 35th anniversary, as well as a collaboration with INTERACTIVE AQUAZOO「NIFREL」 produced by Kaiyukan that will celebrate its 10th anniversary on November 19, 2025. Both merchandise features designs of Kaiyukan's creatures and landmarks. We aimed to create a festive atmosphere so that visitors to Kaiyukan can celebrate this milestone. The seal cushions were created by the Ringed seal seal specialist at Kaiyukan , who faithfully reproduced the physical characteristics of each individual seal down to the smallest detail! The cushions come with a "caretaker handover notebook" that contains information on how to aquarium keeper for the Ringed seal , so you can feel like a ringed seal keeper. The Kaiyukan Official Shop aims to create goods that will help visitors to Kaiyukan learn more about the creatures and Kaiyukan. Please note that these goods are only sold at the Kaiyukan Official Shop (with the aquarium keeper handover notebook) and the official online store of Felissimo Co., Ltd. when purchasing goods. A size close to the real thing The size is only about one size smaller than the real thing, making it feel realistic and comfortable to hug. You may wonder how a seal can be so small, but Ringed seal are the smallest type of seal. The Ringed seal is tightly packed The small head, size and shape of the feet are just like a real Ringed seal. The aquarium keeper have supervised the design, even paying close attention to the way the claws grow. You can learn about the mindset required for caretaking! Both the Yuki and Arale versions come with an original caretaking handover notebook. It's a bit of a nerdy read, as it teaches you how aquarium keeper really used to keep records of the animals' behavior. There's also a mini version! The Yuki version of the seal mini cushion, which is only available at Kaiyukan, has a different expression than the big cushion.
