Due to the renovation of the "Aleutian Islands" tank, the exhibit of the Tufted puffin will end on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
To promote collaborative research on the ecology and breeding of the Tufted puffin , Kaiyukan has received cooperation from Aqua World Ibaraki Oarai Aquarium, and has brought in Tufted puffin from the aquarium, beginning their breeding and exhibition on June 29, 2018.
Since then, we have successfully bred a total of three birds, and one of them has even been successfully raised artificially. Therefore, we believe that we have achieved a certain degree of success in achieving our initial objectives.
The Tufted puffin will undergo health management in the back area before being moved to Aqua World Ibaraki Oarai Aquarium.
We will inform you about the renovation of the "Aleutian Islands" tank as soon as a decision is made.

A King penguin chick has been born.
~You can see the heartwarming scene of the parenting~ A baby King penguin was born in the "Antarctica" tank on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Since birth, the parents have been raising the baby under their belly, so it has been difficult to see, but about two weeks have passed since birth, and the baby is now occasionally peeking out from under the parents' feet. We are pleased to announce that there are now more opportunities to see the parenting, such as the parents feeding the baby mouth-to-mouth.
