For those who are visiting Kaiyukan for the first time, we have compiled the information you need to know first!
"A Journey Around the Pacific Ocean "
The Kaiyukan has an exhibition theme of the "the "Ring of Fire"," and faithfully recreates the natural environments of the distinctive regions created by the "Ring of Fire" , including North America, Antarctica, temperate zones, and tropical zones.
The aquarium is centered around the "Pacific Ocean" tank , where the world's largest fish, the whale shark , swims, and you can see approximately 30,000 creatures from 620 species, including not only fish but also penguins, otters, and jellyfish.
Starting with the "Japan Forest" tank, the exhibit is designed to make you feel as if you are diving into the ocean, with creatures that live in mountain streams and deep-sea creatures in the "Japan Deep" tank.
Pacific Ocean
The Pacific Ocean occupies one-third of the Earth's surface area.
This tank is home to a wide variety of creatures, including leisurely swimming Whale shark, gracefully flapping Spinetail devilray and Alfred manta, and Indian mackerel of starlings.
Antarctica
Most of Antarctica is covered in ice and is known as the "icy continent." Penguins live vibrant lives in this polar region.
Great Barrier Reef
The world's largest coral reef stretches along the northeastern coast of the Australian continent. This tank expresses the magnificent scenery that coral has created in the ocean over many years, and the repeated "death and rebirth" of coral within it.

In addition to the popular Whale shark, otters, and penguins, there are a wide variety of creatures living here, including tropical fish from the Amazon and Japanese giant spider crab that live in the deep sea. Check out the "Living Things Encyclopedia" to see what creatures you can encounter.
On their blog and official social media accounts, aquarium keeper and staff write about their daily interactions with the creatures, provide exclusive glimpses into the behind-the-scenes of animal care, and share the latest event information.
